COLOGNE, Jun. 20, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Sweden tied 2-2 with England (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
The Englishs started off well by taking the lead thanks to English midfielder Joe Cole in the 34th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Gerrard goal ('85) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by Sweden with goals by Marcus Allbäck ('51) and Henrik Larsson ('90).
