COLOGNE, Jun. 17, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Ghana defeated Czech republic by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday night at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne.
Ghana dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Asamoah Gyan in the 2nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Ghanaians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Muntari with just 8 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Czech second in Group E with 3 points. Ghana is third with 3 points. In their last game, Czech republic will meet group leaders Italy at the RheinEnergieStadion on June 22, while Ghana will face the United States.
