HAMBURG, Jun. 22, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Italy defeated Czech republic by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
Italy dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Marco Materazzi in the 26th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Italians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Inzaghi with just 3 minutes remaining in regulation time.
