World Cup 2006 : South Korea defeats Togo 2-1
FRANKFURT, Jun. 13, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : South Korea defeated Togo by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday afternoon at the Waldstadion in Frankfurt.
Togo had started off well by taking the lead in the 31st minute with a goal by forward Mohamed Kader. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Koreans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Chun-soo '54 and Jung-hwan '72).
The result put the Koreans top of Group G with 3 points. In their next game, South Korea will meet France at the Waldstadion on June 18, while Togo will face Switzerland.
