World Cup 2006 : France and South Korea play out 1-1 draw
LEIPZIG, Jun. 18, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : France tied 1-1 with South Korea (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at the Zentralstadion in Leipzig.
The Frenchs started off well by taking the lead thanks to French forward Thierry Henry in the 9th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by South Korea with a saving goal from Korean midfielder Park Ji-sung in the 81st minute.
The result put the Koreans top of Group G with 4 points. France is second with 2 points. In their last game, South Korea will meet third-placed Switzerland at the Zentralstadion on June 23, while France will face Togo.
