LEIPZIG, Jun. 14, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Spain defeated Ukraine by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Zentralstadion in Leipzig.
David Villa scored dual goals
Spain dominated the first half thanks to goals from Alonso ('13) and Villa ('17). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Spaniards further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Villa '48/penalty and Torres '81).
The result put the Spaniard top of Group H with 3 points. In their next game, Spain will meet Tunisia at the Zentralstadion on June 19, while Ukraine will face Saudi Arabia.
