HAMBURG, Jun. 19, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Ukraine defeated Saudi Arabia by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday night at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.
Ukraine dominated the first half thanks to goals from Rusol ('4) and Rebrov ('36). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Ukrainians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Shevchenko '46 and Kalynychenko '84).
The result put the Ukrainians second in Group H with 3 points. Saudi Arabia is bottom with one point. In their last game, Ukraine will meet third-placed Tunisia at the Volksparkstadion on June 23, while Saudi Arabia will face Spain.
