PORT ELIZABETH, Jun. 12, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : South Korea defeated Greece by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
South Korea dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by defender Lee Jung-soo in the 7th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Koreans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Ji-sung in the 52nd minute.
The result put the Koreans top of Group B with 3 points. In their next game, South Korea will meet Argentina at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on June 17, while Greece will face Nigeria.
