JOHANNESBURG, Jun. 17, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Argentina defeated South Korea by a score of 4-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
Gonzalo Higuaín scored tripple goals
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to goals from Chu-young ('17 own) and Higuaín ('33). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Higuaín '76, '80).
The result put the Argentine top of Group B with 6 points. South Korea is second with 3 points. In their last game, Argentina will meet Greece at Soccer City on June 22, while South Korea will face Nigeria.
