World Cup 2010 : Greece beats Nigeria 2-1
BLOEMFONTEIN, Jun. 17, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Greece defeated Nigeria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Nigerian forward Kalu Uche opened the score in the 16th minute, before seeing Greece catch up in the 44th minute thanks to Dimitris Salpingidis. 1-1 at half time. The Greeks eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Torosidis in the 71st minute.
The result put the Greek third in Group B with 3 points. Nigeria is bottom with no points. In their last game, Greece will meet group leaders Argentina at the Free State Stadium on June 22, while Nigeria will face South Korea.
