One goal for both sides in the first half, Gerrard ('4) for England, Dempsey ('40) for the United States and none in the second.
The result left both teams on top of Group C with one point. In their next game, the United States will meet Slovenia at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on June 18, while England will face Algeria.
