JOHANNESBURG, Jun. 18, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Slovenia tied 2-2 with the United States (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
The Slovenians started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Birsa ('13) and Ljubijankič ('42). However, even though they were leading 2-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by the United States with goals by Landon Donovan ('48) and Michael Bradley ('82).
The result put the Slovenians top of Group C with 4 points. USA is second with 2 points. In their last game, Slovenia will meet third-placed England at the Ellis Park Stadium on June 23, while the United States will face Algeria.
