PORT ELIZABETH, Jun. 23, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : England defeated Slovenia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

All the action happened in the first half, with English striker Jermain Defoe goal in the 23rd minute.

England advance to the Round of 16. Slovenia is eliminated.
