POLOKWANE, Jun. 13, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Slovenia defeated Algeria by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Algeria made the Slovenians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Slovenian midfielder Robert Koren in the 79th minute.
The result put the Slovenians top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Slovenia will meet second-placed the United States at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on June 18, while Algeria will face England.
