DURBAN, Jun. 13, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Germany defeated Australia by a big score of 4-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to goals from Podolski ('8) and Klose ('26). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Müller '68 and Cacau '70).
The result put the Germans top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Germany will meet third-placed Serbia at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on June 18, while Australia will face Ghana.
