PRETORIA, Jun. 13, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Ghana defeated Serbia by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Ghanaian forward Asamoah Gyan on penalty with just 5 minutes remaining in regulation time.
The result put the Ghanaians top of Group D with 3 points. In their next game, Ghana will meet Australia at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on June 19, while Serbia will face Germany.
