World Cup 2010 : Italy hold Paraguay to 1-1
CAPE TOWN, Jun. 14, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Italy tied 1-1 with Paraguay (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday night at the Cape Town Stadium.
The Paraguayans started off well by taking the lead thanks to Paraguayan defender Antolín Alcaraz in the 39th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Italy with a saving goal from Italian midfielder Daniele De Rossi in the 63rd minute.
The result left both teams on top of Group F with one point. In their next game, Paraguay will meet Slovakia at the Cape Town Stadium on June 20, while Italy will face New Zealand.
