JOHANNESBURG, Jun. 24, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Slovakia defeated Italy by a score of 3-2 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
Róbert Vittek scored dual goals
Slovakia dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Róbert Vittek in the 25th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Slovaks further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Vittek '73 and Kopúnek '89).
