DURBAN, Jun. 16, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : Switzerland defeated Spain by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Spain made the Swisss doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes in the 52nd minute.
The result put the Swiss top of Group H with 3 points. In their next game, Switzerland will meet group leaders Chile at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on June 21, while Spain will face Honduras.
