CUIABá, Jun. 13, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Chile defeated Australia by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday night at the Arena Pantanal in Cuiabá.
Chile dominated the first half thanks to goals from Sánchez ('12) and Valdivia ('14). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Chilians further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Beausejour in stoppage time.
The result put the Chilians second in Group B with 3 points. In their next game, Chile will meet Spain at the Arena Pantanal on June 18, while Australia will face the Netherlands.
