World Cup 2014 : Switzerland beats Ecuador 2-1
BRASíLIA, Jun. 15, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Switzerland defeated Ecuador by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Mane Garrincha Stadium in Brasília.
Ecuador had started off well by taking the lead in the 22nd minute with a goal by forward Enner Valencia. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Swisss nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Mehmedi '48 and Seferovic '90).
The result put the Swiss top of Group E with 3 points. In their next game, Switzerland will meet France at the Mane Garrincha Stadium on June 20, while Ecuador will face Honduras.
