CURITIBA, Jun. 20, 2014 (AMP) — Brazil 2014 : Ecuador defeated Honduras by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday night at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba.
Enner Valencia scored dual goals
Honduran forward Carlo Costly opened the score in the 31st minute, before seeing Ecuador catch up in the 34th minute thanks to Enner Valencia. 1-1 at half time. The Ecuadorians eventually won the game in the second period with with another goal by Valencia in the 65th minute.
The result put the Ecuadorians second in Group E with 3 points. Honduras is bottom with no points. In their last game, Ecuador will meet group leaders France at the Arena da Baixada on June 25, while Honduras will face Switzerland.
