MOSCOW, Jun. 14, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : Russia defeated Saudi Arabia by a big score of 5-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday night at the Luzhniki Olympic Stadium in Moscow.
Denis Cheryshev scored dual goals
Russia dominated the first half thanks to goals from Gazinsky ('12) and Cheryshev ('43). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Russians further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Dzyuba '71, Cheryshev '90 and Golovin '90).
The result put the Russians top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Russia will meet Egypt at the Luzhniki Olympic Stadium on June 19, while Saudi Arabia will face Uruguay.
