SAINT PETERSBURG, Jun. 19, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : Russia defeated Egypt by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.
45 minutes of play and neither the Russians nor the Egyptians have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with goals by Fathy ('47 own), Cheryshev ('59) and Dzyuba ('62).
The result put the Russians top of Group A with 6 points. Egypt is third with no points. In their last game, Russia will meet second-placed Uruguay at the Krestovsky Stadium on June 25, while Egypt will face Saudi Arabia.
