SAINT PETERSBURG, Jun. 26, 2018 (AMP) — Russia 2018 : Argentina defeated Nigeria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at the Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg.
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Lionel Messi in the 14th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Rojo with just 4 minutes remaining in regulation time.
