Confederations Cup 2013 : Uruguay beats Nigeria 2-1
SALVADOR, Jun. 20, 2013 (AMP) — Brazil 2013 : Uruguay defeated Nigeria by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-1), in a Confederations Cup group stage game on Thursday night at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador.
Uruguayan defender Diego Lugano opened the score in the 19th minute, before seeing Nigeria catch up in the 37th minute thanks to Mikel. 1-1 at half time. The Uruguayans eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Forlán in the 51st minute.
The result put the Nigerians second in Group B with 3 points. Uruguay is third with 3 points. In their last game, Nigeria will meet group leaders Spain at the Arena Fonte Nova on June 23, while Uruguay will face Tahiti.
