Uruguay beats Tahiti to advance to Confederations Cup semifinals
RECIFE, Jun. 23, 2013 (AMP) — Brazil 2013 : Uruguay defeated Tahiti by a big score of 8-0 (halftime: 4-0), in a Confederations Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Arena Pernambuco in Recife.
Abel Hernández served up another goal feast
Uruguay dominated the first half thanks to goals from Hernández ('2, '24, '45) and Pérez ('27). Leading 4-0 at the break, the Uruguayans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring four times (Lodeiro '61, Hernández '67/penalty and Suárez '82, '90).
