Copa América 2011 : Chile defeats Mexico 2-1
SAN JUAN, Jul. 4, 2011 (AMP) — Argentina 2011 : Chile defeated Mexico by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a Copa América group stage game on Monday night at the Estadio del Bicentenario in San Juan.
Mexico had started off well by taking the lead in the 40th minute with a goal by Araújo. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Chilians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Paredes '66 and Vidal '72).
The result put the Chilians top of Group C with 3 points. In their next game, Chile will meet second-placed Uruguay at the Estadio del Bicentenario on July 8, while Mexico will face Peru.
