La Liga (Week 21) : Alavés beats Gijon 4-2
SPAIN, Feb. 5, 2017 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 21: After their 2-2 draw against Leganés on January 28 and 0-0 draw against Atletico Madrid on January 28, Los Babazorros bounced back with a 4-2 victory over Sporting Gijon this Sunday.
Alavés dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Sobrino Ruben in the 10th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, Los Babazorros further widened their lead in the second period by scoring three times (Santos Christian '58/penalty, Mendez Edgar '70/penalty and Delgado Alexis '85).
Deportivo Alavés remains in 12nd place with 27 points from 21 games, one point behind UD Las Palmas, which has a game in hand.
