HONIARA, May. 15, 2004 (AMP) — Australia 2004 (Qualifiers) : Tonga defeated the Cook islands by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-0), in a qualifying game for the 2004 Oceania Nations Cup on Saturday afternoon at the Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara.
The result put the Tongans third in Group 1 with 3 points. The Cook islands is bottom with no points. In their next game, Tonga will meet second-placed Tahiti at the Lawson Tama Stadium on May 17, while the Cook islands will face New Caledonia.
