Primeira Liga (Week 13) : Benfica beats Sporting 2-1
PORTUGAL, Dec. 11, 2016 (AMP) — Primeira Liga / Match day 13: After losing 2-1 to Maritimo on December 2, the Eagles bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon this Sunday.
Benfica dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Argentine forward Eduardo Salvio in the 24th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Eagles further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Jimenez Raul in the 47th minute.
SL Benfica remains in first place with 32 points from 13 games, a 4-point lead over runner-up FC Porto.
