World Cup 1930 : Chile beats France 1-0

MONTEVIDEO, Jul. 19, 1930 (AMP) — Uruguay 1930 : Chile defeated France by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.

France made the Chilians doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Chilian forward Guillermo Subiabre in the 67th minute.

The result put the Chilians top of Group 1 with 4 points. France is second with 2 points. In their last game, Chile will meet third-placed Argentina at the Estadio Centenario on July 22.
