Argentina beats Chile to advance to World Cup semifinals

MONTEVIDEO, Jul. 22, 1930 (AMP) — Uruguay 1930 : Argentina defeated Chile by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday afternoon at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.

Guillermo Stábile scored dual goals

Argentina dominated the first half thanks to goals from Stábile ('12, '13). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Evaristo in the 51st minute.
