RIO DE JANEIRO, Jun. 29, 1950 (AMP) — Brazil 50 : Spain defeated Chile by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.

All the action happened in the first half, with goals from Estanislau Basora ('17) and Telmo Zarra ('30).

The result put the Spaniard top of Group 2 with 4 points. Chile is bottom with no points. In their last game, Spain will meet second-placed England at the Maracanã Stadium on July 2, while Chile will face the United States.
