World Cup 1966 : Chile and North Korea tied at 1-1

MIDDLESBROUGH, Jul. 15, 1966 (AMP) — England 66 : Chile tied 1-1 with North Korea (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday night at Ayresome Park in Middlesbrough.

The Chilians started off well by taking the lead thanks to Chilian midfielder Rubén Marcos on penalty in the 26th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by North Korea with a saving goal from Korean forward Pak Seung-Zin in the 88th minute.

The result put the Chilians third in Group 4 with one point. North Korea is bottom with one point. In their last game, Chile will meet group leaders USSR at Ayresome Park on July 20, while North Korea will face Italy.
