World Cup 1970 : Germany beats Morocco 2-1
LEóN, Jun. 3, 1970 (AMP) — Mexico 70 : Germany defeated Morocco by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday afternoon at the Estadio León.
Morocco had started off well by taking the lead in the 21st minute with a goal by forward Houmane Jarir. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Germans nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Seeler '56 and Müller '80).
The result put the Germans second in Group 4 with 2 points. In their next game, Germany will meet third-placed Bulgaria at the Estadio León on June 7, while Morocco will face Peru.
