World Cup 1982 : Brazil beats USSR 2-1

SEVILLE, Jun. 14, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : Brazil defeated USSR by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday night at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Seville.

USSR had started off well by taking the lead in the 34th minute with a goal by midfielder Andriy Bal. Trailing 1-0 at half time, the Brazilians nonetheless manage to reverse the direction of the game by scoring twice in the second period (Sócrates '75 and Éder '87).

The result put the Brazilians top of Group F with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Scotland at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on June 18, while USSR will face New Zealand.
