World Cup 1982 : USSR held to a 2-2 draw by Scotland but qualifies for next round
MALAGA, Jun. 22, 1982 (AMP) — Spain 82 : USSR tied 2-2 with Scotland (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Tuesday night at La Rosaleda Stadium in Malaga.
The Scots started off well by taking the lead thanks to Scottish forward Joe Jordan in the 15th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Souness goal ('87) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by USSR with goals by Aleksandre Chivadze ('60) and Ramaz Shengelia ('84).
