MEXICO CITY, Jun. 2, 1986 (AMP) — Mexico 86 : Argentina defeated South Korea by a score of 3-1 (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City.
Jorge Valdano scored dual goals
Argentina dominated the first half thanks to goals from Valdano ('6) and Ruggeri ('18). Leading 2-0 at the break, the Argentines further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Valdano in the 46th minute.
The result put the Argentine top of Group A with 2 points. In their next game, Argentina will meet second-placed Italy at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario on June 5, while South Korea will face Bulgaria.
