TURIN, Jun. 10, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Brazil defeated Sweden by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday night at the Stadio delle Alpi in Turin.
Careca scored dual goals
Brazil dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by forward Careca in the 40th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Brazilians further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Careca in the 63rd minute.
The result put the Brazilians top of Group C with 2 points. In their next game, Brazil will meet Costa Rica at the Stadio delle Alpi on June 16, while Sweden will face Scotland.
