GENOA, Jun. 11, 1990 (AMP) — Italy 90 : Costa Rica defeated Scotland by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday afternoon at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium in Genoa.
Both teams held off against each other during the first 45 minutes of the game. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Costa Rican midfielder Juan Cayasso in the 49th minute.
The result put the Costa Ricans second in Group C with 2 points. In their next game, Costa Rica will meet group leaders Brazil at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium on June 16, while Scotland will face Sweden.
