SAINT-ÉTIENNE, Jun. 25, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : The Netherlands tied 2-2 with Mexico (halftime: 2-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Thursday afternoon at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Étienne.
The Dutchs started off well by taking the lead thanks to goals by Cocu ('4) and Ronald de Boer ('18). However, even though they were leading 2-0 at half time, they could not prevent a comeback by Mexico with goals by Ricardo Peláez ('75) and Luis Hernández ('90).
