PARIS, Jun. 15, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Germany defeated the United States by a score of 2-0 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Monday night at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
Germany dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Andreas Möller in the 10th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Klinsmann in the 67th minute.
The result put the Germans top of Group F with 3 points. In their next game, Germany will meet second-placed Yugoslavia at the Parc des Princes on June 21, while the United States will face Iran.
