World Cup 1998 : Germany and Yugoslavia play to a 2-2 draw
LENS, Jun. 21, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Germany tied 2-2 with Yugoslavia (halftime: 0-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Sunday afternoon at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens.
The Yugoslavs started off well by taking the lead thanks to Yugoslav forward Predrag Mijatović in the 13th minute. However, even though they were leading 1-0 at half time, and despite Stojković goal ('52) in the second period, they could not prevent a comeback by Germany with goals by Sinisa Mihajlovic ('72 own) and Oliver Bierhoff ('78).
The result put the Germans top of Group F with 4 points. Yugoslavia is second with 4 points. In their last game, Germany will meet third-placed Iran at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis on June 25, while Yugoslavia will face the United States.
