LYON, Jun. 26, 1998 (AMP) — France 98 : Jamaica defeated Japan by a score of 2-1 (halftime: 1-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday afternoon at the Stade de Gerland in Lyon.
Theodore Whitmore scored dual goals
Jamaica dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by midfielder Theodore Whitmore in the 39th minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, the Jamaicans further widened their lead in the second period with another goal by Whitmore in the 54th minute.
