MUNICH, Jun. 9, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Germany defeated Costa Rica by a score of 4-2 (halftime: 2-1), in a World Cup group stage game on Friday night at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
Miroslav Klose scored dual goals
Germany dominated the first half thanks to goals from Lahm ('6) and Klose ('17). Leading 2-1 at the break, the Germans further widened their lead in the second period by scoring twice (Klose '61 and Frings '87).
The result put the Germans top of Group A with 3 points. In their next game, Germany will meet Poland at the Allianz Arena on June 14, while Costa Rica will face Ecuador.
