DORTMUND, Jun. 14, 2006 (AMP) — Germany 2006 : Germany defeated Poland by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Wednesday night at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund.

Poland made the Germans doubt themselves for forty-five minutes. 0-0 at half time. Everything was settled in the second period with a saving goal by German forward Oliver Neuville in stoppage time.

The result put the Germans top of Group A with 6 points. Poland is bottom with no points. In their last game, Germany will meet second-placed Ecuador at the Westfalenstadion on June 20, while Poland will face Costa Rica.
