DURBAN, Jun. 19, 2010 (AMP) — South Africa 2010 : The Netherlands defeated Japan by a score of 1-0 (halftime: 0-0), in a World Cup group stage game on Saturday afternoon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
45 minutes of play and neither the Dutchs nor the Japaneses have managed to pull ahead. 0-0 at half time. Everything was decided in the second period with a saving goal by Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder in the 53rd minute.
The result put the Dutch top of Group E with 6 points. Japan is second with 3 points. In their last game, the Netherlands will meet third-placed Cameroon at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on June 24, while Japan will face Denmark.
