La Liga (Week 19) : Villarreal beats Bilbao 2-0
SPAIN, Jan. 17, 2015 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 19: After their 2-2 draw against Elche on January 10 and 1-1 draw against Malaga on January 10, El Submarino Amarillo returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao this Saturday.
Villarreal dominated the first half thanks to a goal scored by Russian forward Denis Cheryshev in the 42nd minute. Leading 1-0 at the break, El Submarino Amarillo further widened their lead in the second period with a goal by Soriano on penalty with just 7 minutes remaining in regulation time.
Villarreal CF remains in 6th place with 35 points from 19 games, one point behind Sevilla FC, which has two games in hand.
