La Liga (Week 9) : Real Madrid defeats Bilbao 2-1
SPAIN, Oct. 23, 2016 (AMP) — La Liga / Match day 9: Two wins in a row for Real Madrid. After their 1-6 win against Real Betis on October 15, Los Blancos continued their sensational form in the La Liga with a 2-1 victory over Athletic Bilbao this Sunday.
Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema opened the score in the 7th minute, before seeing Athletic Bilbao catch up in the 27th minute thanks to Merino Sabin. 1-1 at half time. Los Blancos eventually won the game in the second period with with a goal by Morata with just 7 minutes remaining in regulation time.
Real Madrid climbed to first place with 21 points from 9 games, one point ahead of runner-up Sevilla FC.
